How to Make Ginger Lemon Tea

lemon ginger tea

I have become a tea fanatic in recent years.  I find that sipping hot tea throughout the day is soothing, keeps my appetite in check and warms me up during our harsh Cleveland winters. But, when I say fanatic- I mean major amounts of tea in a day.

Over time, that adds up to a significant chunk of change!  I had to find a way to save so, so I started making my own tea.  I could not believe how extremely easy it was to make my own tea recipes with the help of my water cooler (I am lucky enough to have a hot spigot on mine).

Benefits of Drinking Ginger Lemon Tea

One of my favorites is homemade ginger lemon tea.  Ginger is a goofy little root that you will find easily at Heinen’s or any other grocery store in town. Ginger has no shortage of health benefits but among the top is its ability to aid in digestion and soothe an upset stomach.  Add a dash of delicious lemon flavor and you have one perfect tea!

Believe it or not, there’s an added benefit to drinking fresh ginger lemon tea in the morning. Substitute your morning coffee with some homemade ginger lemon tea to kick start your metabolism for the day. The tea will also help boost your body’s absorption of food, helping you more easily control your weight. This is especially important for anyone who works in an office.

Homemade Ginger Lemon Tea Recipe

You will need:

  • 1 lemon slice
  • 5-6 thin slices of ginger
  • hot water

Directions:

  • Start by washing your lemon and ginger well.  You will not be peeling them, so you will want them to be squeaky clean.
  • Cut a thin slice of lemon and place it in your favorite mug.
  • Cut 5-6 small slices of ginger and add to the mug as well.
  • Fill the mug to the rim for water from the hot side of your cooler or filter unit.
  • Allow steeping for 3-4 minutes.
  •  Sip and enjoy!

Ginger Lemon Tea Prep Tips

You can use any type of water to prepare lemon ginger tea.  I prefer Premium Drinking water; as this is a good combination of spring and distilled water.  I turn to premium drinking water quite often because I enjoy the flavor enhancing qualities of distilled water paired with the smooth taste of spring water.

You certainly can boil your water on the stovetop or in the microwave but having an instant hot on your water cooler or filter make tea making a breeze!

Homemade ginger lemon tea can take longer to create without a water cooler. Interested in seeing the benefits firsthand? Distillata offers a 60-day free trial for businesses and homeowners!
