There is no argument that we all need to drink more water. The health benefits are undeniable. But, guzzling 64 ounces (or more) a day can be an insurmountable task. Just like any challenge, there are two key components that will make success more attainable…setting a goal and tracking it.
First, you need to know how much water you should be drinking in a day. This is not a one size fits all task. There are many factors including your level of activity or height and weight. Next, you need to record your consumption and make adjustments to meet your recommended amount.
Thankfully, with the amazing technology of smartphones…both of these steps are very easy. There is an app for everything these days, including tracking your water intake. These inventive programs will not only help you set a goal but, then provide a venue for recording your progress. In addition, several of these water tracking apps will sync with your Fitbit or Apple watch!
There are dozens of these apps available but, we have narrowed it down to the 10 best (in our humble opinion):
1) Waterlogged (FREE)
2) Daily Water (FREE)
3) Water Minder
4) Hydrate Daily (FREE)
1) Water Coach (FREE)
2) Track that Water (FREE)
3) Water Your Body (FREE)
4) Aqualert (FREE)
5) Water Tracker (FREE)
But, what do you do if you are old school? You don’t mess with those new fangled devices, your old flip phone works just fine. Two words…rubber bands. Here is how it works:
- Start with a reusable water bottle.
- Determine how many of these bottles you would like to drink in a day (let’s use four as an example).
- Start the morning with four rubber bands wrapped around the bottle.
- As you finish and refill the bottle from your water cooler, remove a rubber band.
- Once you have removed all four, you know that you have met your goal for the day.
How simple is that?
Either way, you go, today is a great time to start on your endeavor towards a healthier lifestyle by simply drinking more water!
