Distillata is committed to corporate social responsibility (CSR). We recognize the significance of giving back to communities—especially those where we manufacture and deliver our water products. Our CSR policy serves as a mission statement. It defines our dedication to community involvement, human rights, and sustainability initiatives. This policy applies to our stakeholders, team members, and vendors.

Community Involvement

We support community investments, sponsor charitable events, and assist nonprofit organizations. We pay special attention to those that promote local economic development in Cleveland and Akron, Oh. Community giving is a cornerstone of our ethos. We support diverse local charities through financial donations, water supplies, and resource allocation.

Sustainability

In addition to our legal responsibilities, we proactively take measures to safeguard the environment. Our commitment to sustainability is unwavering. We prioritize using recycled materials and collaborate with suppliers to ensure sustainable practices. 

Notable Sustainability Activities

• Plastic recycling: We compile and bail our plastic bottles and caps for recycling with a local company.
• Cardboard recycling: We ensure all cardboard entering our facility enters the recycling stream.
• Metal recycling: We strip truck bodies, water coolers, and other metal pieces for reusable parts, then scrap and recycle any remaining unusable metal.
• Paper and junk mail: We provide all applicable team members with a paper receptacle to collect recyclable materials.
• Efficient routing: We plan delivery routes to reduce emissions by navigating tightly.
• Raw materials: We work with our vendors to reduce the amount of raw materials used to produce our packaging. One example of our success is smaller cap sizes and lighter plastic bottles.
• Education: We educate our customers to achieve a sustainable water delivery program.
• Energy-efficient lighting is standard in our offices.

Our proactive approach is seen in our community involvement and aid efforts. We allocate resources to facilitate monetary donations but focus on in-kind help and event participation. 

Specific Examples of Our CSR Initiatives

• We trained with the Cuyahoga County Solid Waste District Master Recycler program.
• We are a silver certified Business Resource Champion with the Cuyahoga County Solid Waste District.
• We focus on supporting our customers’ charitable causes. We participate physically, monetarily, and by providing water for thousands of events. We proudly support Ohio Boys Town, The Fest, Maryssa’s Foundation, Trials 4 Hope, and The Cuyahoga County Animal Shelter.
• We ensure fair wages for all employees by partnering with Teamsters Local 293 and 1164.
• We offer expanded health care benefits, including medical, dental, and vision. We also offer telehealth, HSA, and other supportive services.
• We lead by example by participating in running, yoga, and golf events like the Akron Marathon, Hermes Road Races, and Elevate Akron.
• We are the designated water supplier for local hospitals and care facilities in the event of an emergency.
