Keurig® mini coffee brewers go by many names, the K10, the slim, K-Mini, and the classic. No matter what you call it, this little guy is straightforward and versatile, on top of being compact and sleek. Newer models make four size cup sizes: 6, 8, 10, and 12 ounces in under two minutes. Also, you can use any K-Cup® pod in the mini. We still recommend only using Keurig-approved brands, but the choice is yours! The average mini measures only 10″H x 6″W x 10″ D, leaving you tons of open counter space.
One thing makes this brewer different from other Keurig® models; there is no water reservoir. You use fresh water for each cup of coffee. This happens to be the only reason I prefer this unit – especially for my weekend cottage. The water does not sit in the unit all week while I am away, and winter storage is a non-factor. You can not drain other Keurig® models. This means the water will sit in the coffee maker all season.
Preparing a K-cup® pod in the Keurig® mini brewer can take some adjusting. When we adopted ours, there were a few choice words spoken from time to time due to overflows and short cups. But, if you follow these Keurig® mini instructions each time, your morning cup of coffee will be easier than ever!
(how to prepare a cup of coffee with a Keurig® K-Mini single serve coffee maker)
Get ready to enjoy a freshly brewed cup of joe. It should only take about a minute to start dispensing into your cup. If you want to use a tall travel mug, remove the drip tray for more space. Also, if you happen to overfill the water well, the drip tray will save the day by harnessing the overage. Once you complete the brewing process, your coffee maker will turn off after ninety seconds of inactivity. Before you ask, yes, the My K-Cup reusable filter will work in this brewer!
No, you should never open your K-Cup® pods. The coffee maker will puncture the lids and complete the brewing process with the lid intact. Keep the lid in place to ensure the ultimate freshness and best tasting coffee.
I do not have any scientific data to back the claim I am about to make, other than over ten years of experience with Keurig® coffee makers…but, it stands to reason that there is less to go wrong with the mini, making longevity a bonus. In all of my years working with single-serve coffee brewers, I have not received a single message regarding troubleshooting this model (knock on wood). You should descale your coffee maker on a regular basis to provide further longevity.
The Keurig® mini is available in a variety of colors including pink. This unit is perfect for smaller spaces and is pretty much meant to live in a college dorm. The diversity and ease of use associated with the Keurig® mini make it a strong contender when it comes to choosing a Keurig® model for your home as well.
